Vestry Retreat
Each year, our vestry attends a weekend retreat. The retreat gives the members an opportunity to get to know one another and identify their gifts and passions. Each new vestry member is given The Vestry Handbook, which includes a wide range of Vestry duties: everything from being responsible for stewardship, taking on leadership roles and responding to congregational needs - to leading the congregation to a closer relationship with God, and helping the congregation discern what God is calling it to do. Vestry duties can be even more complex, but they involve two important things: leadership and discernment. We discern how God might use these gifts at St. Mark’s. And then we go deeper, asking, in light of these gifts and passions, keeping in mind the needs of this parish and surrounding community, what is God calling us to do? Our hope is that together we can keep our eyes on God’s call and lead St. Mark’s to become what God needs us to be.
