St. Mark's Josephine Bakhita Chapter of the Daughters of the King

The Order of the Daughters of the King® (DOK) is a spiritual sisterhood of women dedicated to a life of Prayer, Service and Evangelism. We have made a commitment to Jesus as our Savior, and we follow Him as Lord of our lives. We are an Order for women who are communicants of the Episcopal Church, churches in communion with it, or churches in the Historic Episcopate. Today our membership includes women in the Anglican, Episcopal, Lutheran (ELCA) and Roman Catholic churches.DOK members July 22 2012

The chapter at St. Mark’s is named for a saint of the Church, Josephine Bakhita, who lived her life in Africa and was known for her humility, service to others, evangelism, and love of God. Information about Josephine may be found at the bottom of this link.

Those who join the Order pledge to dedicate themselves by a commitment for life to a Rule of Prayer and a Rule of Service, and to personal evangelism.  The Daughters of St. Mark’s play an active role in seeking to build up the Church and to support the clergy at St. Mark’s.

The Daughters of the King have chapters throughout the United States and beyond.  They are organized by diocese and province.  Information concerning the national Order of the Daughers of the King may be found by clicking on this link.

Daughters can be identified by the silver Greek cross they wear.  On the cross are these letters: FHS (for His sake).  The hymn of the Order is “Lift High the Cross”.DOK Cross

St. Mark's current officers are: Donna Anderson (president), Terese Tyner (vice president and secretary), and Linda Williams (treasurer).  If you are interested in learning more about the Daughters of the King, you may contact one of the officers or any member of the Order.

You don't have to be a member to join in on the fun! We hope you will mark your calendar to join us for some of the community service projects, prayer time, and fun times. Special activities will be announced in our weekly announcements and posted under Events Calendar found on our home page.
