Education Ministries

Together we learn that Christ loves us all

Adult Education St. Mark's has several opportunities to allow our members to get to know Christ better through individual and group study, education and training. Adult activities include Bible Study Groups, Weekly Adult Forums, Lenten Programs, Spiritual Book Groups, Mission Trips, Daughters of the King, and similar programs. There is a church reference library which provides a collection of spiritual books. See Adult Education Guidelines for a description of these activities.

Children and Youth Programs: (Teachers and Leaders should refer to the Children's Education and Youth Group Guidelines.)

Children are allowed to be themselves in church...they learn that they have a place in God’s loving embrace.

  • Families are an integral part of the St. Mark’s community. From September to May, we offer Sunday School for children ages 4 through high school. During this time our youngest children hear the assigned scripture readings and reflect on them by participating in activities and discussions. Our middle school and high school youth spend this time exploring what it means to be a Christian and how to live their faith every day.  All youth return to the sanctuary at the offertory and join the St. Mark’s family at the communion table for Holy Eucharist.
  • As children learn to read, we encourage them to follow along in the hymnal and the prayer book. Gradually the words will become familiar and form the basis from which the child will be able to articulate their own beliefs.
  • Older children are encouraged to participate in worship as acolytes and readers and to sing in the choir.
  • Children participate in the Children’s Sabbath "Make a Joyful Noise", the Christmas Pageant, and Youth Sunday in May.
