Salvation Army Angel Tree Program

Each year, St. Mark's families receive great joy in participating in the Salvation Army Angel Tree program. The Angel Tree program is unique because it matches sponsors with specific children (angels).  Each sponsor purchases gifts for specific children with information about their age and gender. For us, this is a fulfilling opportunity to touch the lives of local families and children in Alexandria and on the Rt. 1 Corridor on Christmas morning by providing them with gifts of clothing and a toy.

Beginning in November, our church sponsor sets up a table in the narthex at the 8 & 10 a.m. services with a sign-up sheet to "adopt" a child. The sponsors are given a tag containing the children's name and wish list.

We encourage members to prayfully consider adopting one of the children or going together with another family--these gifts are usually the only ones the children will open on Christmas morning.

The unwrapped gifts must be purchased, labeled with the child's name and ID number, and returned to the church for delivery to the Salvation Army for distribution to the families before Christmas.

The success of The Salvation Army’s Angel Tree Program depends on people agreeing to adopt an angel or angels and purchasing NEW Christmas gifts for each child.
